 Zhutuoling village this weekend, an all new place for us. After checking google earth for likely spots for new trails we decided to come here for some exploration. This was a good decision! ZhuTuoling:  Hotel Location, about 3 hours 30 from Shanghai  DAY 1: More details HERE  DAY 2: More details HERE  After a good sleep in nice comfortable beds and clean rooms, we headed up the mountain to see what we could find, after a few dead ends and a nasty crash for Jonathon, we were beginning to feel we may have made a bit of a mistake by choosing this area. After talking to some locals, we found a guy willing to show us some single track so we lent him a bike and he took us to some great climbs, single track downhills and stunning views.  A quick bite to eat back at the hotel, and we found another 2 trails really close to the hotel, the first a really fun technical rolling trail through bamboo forest, unfortunatly not a loop, but equally fun both ways. the second a high speed downhill from single track, switch backs onto a rocky path eventually meeting a tarmac road climb back to the hotel for more great food. A great days riding.  Now Saturday was great, Sunday however, we absolutely struck gold! After climbing a fire road near the hotel, we dropped down an amazing technical downhill trail, really rocky steep but with great flow, you DH heads out there will be pleased to hear that at the bottom of this trail is a motorized cable lift which looked more than adequate for pulling up a big dh rig after a run.  From here, the area was quite frankly swimming in trails, far too many for us to try them all, the one we took from here was epic, big technical climb then tearing through bamboo, farmland and lush scenery.  We will be back REAL soon, for sure!                                    |
